For those of you who have attended or watched the livestream of Lotusphere 2012 Opening Session, you may have seen a very awesome integration between IBM Connections, Sametime & Polycom RealPresence Platform: The ability to do a spontaneous video chat from a widget inside an IBM Connections community...
A piece of that demo have just been delivered as a preview on IBM DeveloperWorks.
IBM Sametime Video Chat Plug-in for IBM Connections Technology Preview
The IBM Sametime Video Chat Plug-in uses a Sametime meeting room to make
it easy for people viewing an IBM Connections Community to get together
for a spontaneous video chat. The widget is very simple, consisting
only of a "Join" button and a counter showing how many people are
currently in the video enabled meeting room. When individuals click to
join, they are taken into a custom meeting room which includes only the
video panel and associated audio/video controls, and the list of
participants in the room. Audio and video are automatically started for
each person as soon as they enter the room.
